I was goofing off, and I found an article on wikipedia about this game. The original article is in the link above.
I loved the concept so much, that I thought that I would post it here for others to see. I don't know who this guy is, but he's a genius.
For those of you too lazy to click the link, and because I don't want this journal to be very short, I'll explain the rules here, hopefully in a simpler version.
The game starts when someone creates a wikia wiki and creates a topic for the players to write about. It should be horribly convoluted and containing many terms that don't exist, though preferably giving a fair place to start for everyone.
The game consists of 26 rounds. In each round, every player must write an article, beginning with the letter for that round. For instance, the topic of the articles in the first round must all begin with A, B in the second, C in the third, and so on and so forth.
The first articles must all must reference two articles, which as of yet do not exist. They will be phantom articles, and must be written later, by SOMEONE ELSE, since you can't reference yourself. All phantom articles in a letter must be claimed and written before new articles beginning with that same letter can be written that round.
After the first round, all articles must reference one previously written article, and three phantom articles, which must start with letters that follow the current round's letter.
The 25th article only needs to reference one phantom article, and the 26th doesn't need to reference any phantom article.
While you are allowed to contradict interpretations and present facts that jade the view presented in previous articles that you are referencing, you MUST assume that all facts that they write are true in and of themselves.
By the end of the 26th round, you have a complete collection of tomes on what ever the imaginary topic was.
I think I'm going to try to find a few friends and play this. It sounds like a great bit of fun.
